I only found out about Seth Godin around a year ago and I've been smitten (for a better word) ever since. The other thing I've been quite taken with in roughly that same year is the TED talks. Now I know I'm certainly not alone, but I've started trying to figure out why everyone is so eager to hear what Seth or any of the other TED talkers have to say and I think it's because there are a lot of people who are not just getting smarter, but they're starting to see the world in a different light...
this is a good thing and it resonates well with me... so much so that I often feel I can change the world after reading one of Seth's pieces... :)
so a quick thank you to Seth - who inspires many of us to be more than the box we've put ourselves in..

Playing I-Spy
I recently taught the little ones to play I-Spy which we now play in the car but when it comes to the three-yr old, the game goes in a totally different direction:
1:I-spy something beginning with 'b'
2:bird
1:nope
3:bag
1:no
2:bucket
1:nah-uh
3:book
1:nope
(then it starts getting a little out of hand)
2:bear
1:no
3:bangkok
1:nope
3:ok, we give up, what is it?
1:a racing car!
3:a racing car starts with a 'r' not a 'b'

so hot...
I dont get why people complain about the weather..
if it's hot, then it's hot..
if it's cold, then it's cold..
everyone complains though, they want it colder/hotter/drier/wetter...bleh
just enjoy the weather that you get
if you're hot, appreciate the fact that your body is sweating to cool you down (gasp, appreciate sweat?!)
if you're cold, appreciate the extra jacket you can put on to warm yourself up
just stop complaining about the weather..

Baby...uhh... stuff
I'm a mother of 3 boys, so I've been through the run of baby things a couple of times and I love to hear about how other people go through the wilderness that is having a baby... so I loved coming across this article about someone just walking into a baby store and the most incredible inventions that were there...
of course, that got my creative cap fired up and this was my response:
I would love to invent something that could clean the floors while the little darlings crawl around, or a big plastic sheet that goes around all plugs and lightswitches cos heaven help me they get dirty.. also a couple of 'timeout' points throughout the house could be handy – when they just get unmanagable, clip their harness (did I mention an all purpose harness?) onto the timeout point which will auto disengage after however old the child is (in case you feel like over-using it)

More kids stuff..
Each time I tell the little ones to put their pajamas on, my 3yr old keeps referring to his as 'jaramas' :)
Just Do It...
So some smart alec ;) today told me "people talk nonsense when they say they don't have time - there's always 2 - 4am ;)"
and for a minute, I thought, you know, maybe he's right, not about the 2am to 4am bit :) but about the 'never having enough time' bit.. here I have been putting off blogging day after day, week after week and month after month, because I'm such a perfectionist, I would want to get it all *exactly* right instead of just getting it done.. so I start, and then dont carry on.. and then start again.. and stop...
And then of course I watched the latest Nike viral vid http://creativity-online.com/work/nike-human-chain/18909 with still probably the best tag line in the world - Just Do It..
So now, I'm just going to do it
I'm going to get it done :)
There will be mistakes, foot-in-mouth instances, blatant story telling and even a bit of plagerism - ALL unintentional (thats a disclaimer right there ;) but now it'll get done :)
Oh and another post I read said that one of the main things people DONT want to read about, is someone blogging about blogging....
So I've just made my first mistake :D

Back on the horse
Well, not literally - seeing as I've only sat on a horse once :) but this is all about new beginnings and fresh starts. I've had a tumultuous year to say the least and as strong as I think I am, there's always a little part that breaks when not-so-nice stuff happens in your life.
So I took a hiatus - longer than expected and felt exceptionally guilty at first, but, sitting here now, I know that it was exactly what I needed. No, what my life needed in order for me to start again after clearing away all the ache and hurt and pain and patterns and cycles and and and that I'd managed to get myself into over the past 10, 20, 36 years.
I get to start again, that's pretty amazing for anyone. One of the appeals I find from gaming is that you get given a new life, you get to start again if you mess up the first time. This doesnt usually happen in real life, but it has now, and I'm the lucky one that gets to start again, with a whole lot of benefits that I didnt have the first time - talk about awesome :)
Here I go world :)

Status updates...
I know one day I'm going to wish I'd kept all my status updates as I really enjoy the process of creating them so here goes the past few months' worth...
Ice....
...as thousands of tiny rainbow butterflies cascade around her sprinkling her hair with coloured kisses...
...feels millions of tiny sharp shattered pieces slice into her soul as she treads delicately on the smashed mirrors lying as far as the eye can see
...is on the beach of emotions picking up the pink pearls of broken hearts that waves of time have gently smoothed and rounded..
...stops the world and melts with you...
...watches as tiny sequins of dew collect on her skin sparkling in the moonlight...
...is putting bright red bows on her bottles of puppy-cuddliness....
...is making tinfoil stars for the windows so they can feel like they're part of the sky again..
...is trying to hold the sleep in, but it keeps escaping through her fingers and out of her mouth....
...is... therefore she rocks ;)
...leaves sugar crystal footprints wherever she goes...
...wonders if the higher the jump, the better the conclusion...?
...is trying to figure out how the king, queen and jack in cards came about? Why not the Duke and Duchess as well? and maybe a couple of Earls
...thinks that she should get an army of 1000 5-yr olds to paint all the roads rainbow colours....
...wonders if paddling around in the fountain of youth is supposed to make your skin all wrinkly like that....?
...wonders how much lucky butterfly-wing glitter is sprinkled over us each day without us even realising it....?
...thinks that sub-atomic particles should give it a rest now...
...says that spreading syrup on the pavement is harder than it looks....
